Eustace Paul Ziegler was one of Alaska's and the Pacific Northwest's most popular artists. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ziegler went to Cordova, Alaska in 1909 to manage an Episcopal mission. He had been trained in art in Detroit and continued to paint while traveling his widespread missionary route. After receiving a major painting commission in Seattle in 1924, Ziegler moved there and left the ministry. He continued to make annual trips to Alaska for the rest of his career and painted both Alaska and Pacific Northwest subjects.

Unlike his contemporary, Sydney Laurence, Ziegler usually had human figures and/or horses in his landscapes, and he was a fine portrait painter, primarily of Alaskan natives. Braarud Fine Art is interested in oils, watercolors, and etchings of any subject by Eustace Ziegler.
