Theodore Roosevelt (Ted) Lambert was born in Zion, Illinois. Lambert's sole interest as a teenager was in sketching and art. He left home at the age of 17, worked as a laborer in Wyoming and Montana, and arrived in Cordova, Alaska in 1926.

Lambert drove a mail and freight dog team, worked in mines, and didn't do much art until he had saved enough money to attend the American Academy of Art in Chicago during the winter of 1931-32. He returned to Fairbanks and after more saving, he went to Seattle to study with Eustace Ziegler, and the two became fast friends.

Lambert's productive painting life was very short; his best work was done between the mid-1930s and mid-1940s. Braarud Fine Art is interested in all Lambert works, including oils, watercolors, and etchings from this period.
